Brahma Kamal, the Moon, and the Art of Inner Blooming In my home garden nurtured by my wife Anupama, a few Brahma kamala flowers blossomed on the new moon day, kindling my thought. The Brahma Kamal is one of nature’s most fascinating flowers. It blooms quietly at night, spreads its fragrance, and fades by morning. It blooms near special lunar phases, including new moon nights. The deeper message is: life moves in rhythms . The moon influences tides, calendars, festivals, farming traditions, and the way human beings have understood time for centuries. In yogic thought, the moon is also associated with calmness, cooling energy, reflection, and the inner mind. This is where yoga offers a beautiful, practical connection. Chandra Bhedana Pranayama , the left-nostril breathing practice, is traditionally linked to the moon principle. It is considered cooling, calming, and inward-moving. It helps us slow down, soften mental restlessness, and enter a more reflective state....

Adhika Māsa and Purushottama Yoga: A Time to Rise Above the Ordinary: Adhika Māsa is traditionally regarded as Purushottama Māsa — a sacred extra month dedicated to deeper reflection, devotion, discipline, and inner purification. In the 15th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita , known as Purushottama Yoga , Bhagavan Krishna gives one of the most profound teachings on life, attachment, and the highest reality. He describes the world as an inverted Ashvattha tree — its roots above and branches below. This powerful image reminds us that worldly life, with all its relationships, duties, ambitions, and attachments, is constantly changing. What appears permanent is often temporary. What appears attractive may also bind us. The message of Purushottama Yoga is not to reject life, but to understand it clearly. Krishna guides us to cut the roots of excessive attachment with the sword of wisdom and turn our mind toward the Purushottama — the Supreme Being, the highest consciousness be...

When Hon. Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal recently urged India to “use domestic funds to build the next phase of our startup ecosystem,” it was not just a policy remark — it was a powerful statement of direction. It aligns perfectly with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India , and recognises the reality that India has evolved from being a market for ideas to a creator of them. From the Capital of Ideas to the Capital of Startups India — and Bengaluru in particular — is now celebrated as one of the world’s most vibrant startup hubs. Unicorns are emerging faster than ever before, and several have successfully gone public. Yet, amid the celebration, there is a less-discussed reality: in most of these firms, promoter holdings have fallen to barely 10 per cent. The rest of the ownership is held by foreign venture capital and private equity investors. Two decades ago, this was acceptable — capital was the scarcest of the four factors of production. Toda...
Leadership in the Age of Conviction

Leadership is not a position — it’s a process of social influence . A true leader attracts followers not through authority, but through clarity of thought , consistency of action , and authenticity of purpose . A leader copes with change, sets direction, aligns and inspires people, and promotes effectiveness — often by challenging the status quo. A manager , on the other hand, copes with complexity, plans and budgets, organises and staffs, controls and problem-solves. Both roles are vital — but they serve different purposes: 👉 One ensures efficiency . 👉 The other drives evolution . “Management is about doing things right; leadership is about doing the right things.” — Peter Drucker 🧭 From the Industrial Age to the Knowledge Age — and Beyond The industrial era thrived on labour and capital . The knowledge era elevated information and expertise . Today, we live in an age of information overload — where too much data creates a deficit of attention . Knowledge alone is ...

Navigating the Transition: Shaneeshwara (Saturn) Moves from Aquarius to Pisces ( 31-03-2025): Many of us believe in the influence of planets on one’s life in all aspects, personal, professional, financial, health, etc. A few planets like Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn in different combinations, have a large influence. There are ways to remediate ( mitigate/minimise risk) the adverse impacts. Karma drives this as one takes birth in a particular planet positioning based on his past karmas. Today marks a significant astrological event—Shaneeshwara (Saturn), the planet governing discipline, responsibility, and karma, transitions from Aquarius to Pisces. Saturn's transit through different houses deeply influences our personal and professional lives, shaping outcomes through lessons, opportunities, and transformations. Saturn in 3,6,10,11 houses are considered positive and 12,1,2,5,8 houses are negative. Remedies to Mitigate Shaneeshwara’s Adverse Effects: Charitable Acts: Regul...

Celebrate World Meditation Day 21-DEC-2024 Many people today find it difficult to focus for extended periods. Their minds often drift, either dreaming of the future or dwelling on the past—habits that hinder progress. To truly thrive, we must live in the present, fully concentrate on the task at hand, and remain actively engaged. For this the best tool is Meditation. Recognizing the significance of mindfulness/Meditation, the United Nations has designated December 21 as World Meditation Day and even has a meditation room at its headquarters. Meditation, an ancient practice with countless benefits, calms the mind and fosters balance, health, and peace. It alleviates anxiety, depression, and insomnia while offering the potential to address lifestyle-related diseases. Meditation varies according to the spiritual maturity and experience of the practitioner. At its core, meditation is about emptying the mind—a profound state achieved through practice. Beginners are encouraged to st...

Ancient sages, through inward focus and meditation, discovered the true nature of existence, the Atman (soul), God (Brahman), and the Universe. They realized that Brahman is the singular reality manifesting in every Atman and throughout the Universe, both immanent and transcendent. What we perceive as reality is an illusion, termed Maya, which conceals the true nature and shows various forms, similar to bubbles on water or waves in the ocean. Initially, Western science viewed these concepts as superstition, but advancements in quantum physics are bringing scientists closer to understanding these Upanishadic ideas. At a deeper level, there is one universal existence manifesting in various forms and the physical universe. Quantum physics reveals that particles like electrons display both particle-like and wave-like properties, challenging classical notions of solid, distinct objects. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle suggests fundamental indeterminacy in nature. Quantum entang...

Simple Method in Bhagavad Gita for Uplifting oneself/success: In our journey of life, we come across those who support our elevation and also those who push us towards destruction. We will be pulled by the “pleasant” masquerading like “good”. There are those who claim that lot of events, achievements in one’s or others life is only because of them. In katopanishad, Yama explains this to Nachiketa, as under: “The good is one thing, the pleasant another; these two, having different objects, chain a man. It is well with him who clings to the good; he who chooses the pleasant, perishes.” When one reflects on his life, he will realise this. That reminded me Lord Krishna’s words in Geeta “ uddharedaatmanaatmaanam” let us look at a few verses from Bhagavad Gita explaining this phenomena. Chapter 6, verse 5 uddharedaatmanaatmaanam naatmaanamavasaadayet | aatmaiva hyaatmano bandhuraatmaiva ripuraatmanaha || Uplift yourself b...
