Pradosha is observed on the
thirteenth day of lunar fortnight ( Thrayodashi) This is a highly auspicious day dedicated to
Lord Shiva. When Pradosha falls on a
Monday it is Som Pradosh, i.e today, June 7 , 2021 and is very auspicious.
There is a popular belief that the power of all the Gods and Goddesses merge in the Shivling or in places where there is the presence of Shiva.
Three hours , 1.5 hours before and 1.5 hours after sunset on Pradosha is
considered very auspicious and it is
said that Lord Shiva and Parvati are in a happy mood during this time and bless
the devotees who follow dharma. Lord Shiva had told Goddess Sati that in Kali
Yuga (the present era as per Hinduism), the easiest way to achieve Dharma,
Arth, Kama and Moksha is by observing Pradosh vrat.

Method:
Observe fast from morning to evening
and break fast with evening puja prasadam. Take bath in the morning wear white
color dress and then offer prayers to Ganesha in mind. Then offer prayers to
Shiva facing north and chant 'om Namah Shivaya' mantra or “Maha Mrutyunjaya
Mantra”.
The main puja should be performed in
the evening before sunset (5.00-6.00 pm). Light lamp using pure cow ghee. Light
chandan agarbatti. Offer white flowers. Offer kheer or payasam made using white
rice. Chant Om Nama Shivaya or Maha Mrutyunjay Mantra mantra 108 times and keep
count on a Rudraksh mala. Before sunset and 1 hour after sunset.
