Build confidence to overcome fear

 

Overcoming Fear:

Veetha   “ Raga , Bhaya , Dwesha “ . Bhagavad Gita mentions about three great enemies of human which one must overcome to be successful and happy. They are Raga (Attachment), Bhaya (Fear ) , Dwesha ( hatred).

Fear is one factor hindering people from enjoying eternal bliss that the human being really is .

We all have read about how young seagull overcame fear of flying. It was afraid of flying . It was made to starve for 24 hours. When mother brought fish , seagull jumped to get and could see itself flying and overcame the fear. Thus, the only way to overcome fear of any act  is experience that act again and again. People have all kind of fears , fear of failure, fear of height , fear of darkness , fear of closed place, fear of public speaking  etc., Many of these fears are acquired during our child hood through some bad experiences.

The opposite of fear is confidence. Confidence is in fact ante-dote to fear. How to develop confidence and banish fear is very simple. Confidence and fear are the part of same brain. Fear is like darkness and confidence is like light. Light always banishes darkness, thus confidence to fear.

How do we develop confidence and retain it to overcome fear when faced with real fear. From my young days I use to keep two Mantras in my mind to remain myself cool amidst all turmoil.

·         This too passes away

·         Heavens are not going to fall.

What is the relation of these mantras to confidence? Whatever be the challenge, difficulty , relate to the difficulties you had faced earlier and have overcome. Same way this also will go. like day coming after night , there is end to everything including the challenge we are facing. This confidence that this too passes , gives strength to endure the pain as our subconscious mind is convinced that the pain as a short one and soon will end . That belief brings confidence and confidence ends fear. Other thought process is, whatever is happening is not extraordinary that has never happened with any one .  lot of people have faced and overcome them. It is not end of the world , there is always a solution.

The force in the universe that has created this problem has created solution too. There is no problem without solution. This is nature’s law, for every question you ask it, there is answer available.

So, Is there a easy mantra to overcome fear and develop confidence. Answer is “Yes”. It is in our thought process.  In this universe everything is created twice. First in human mind in the form of a thought and then manifested in  the real  world. Hence the way forward is to bring thoughts of confidence, courage in our thoughts, mind. The way to achieve anything is repetition. If you affirm repeatedly the positive thoughts of courage, confidence , that will manifest in your mind and you become confident , which will banish fear automatically. Lack of confidence is the genesis of fear. Consciously repeat thoughts of confidence to mind which will be accepted by our subconscious mind and bring into reality. Our subconscious mind is the part of universal mind , may be called God. It has the abuility to draw required energy , confidence , capacity , knowhow from the universal mind based on the frequency. When we repeatedly long for something , that thought waves goes out into the atmosphere get linked to the thought waves of same wave length , that is similar thoughts and attracts the answers to the questions the mind is longing for answer. The more intense the desire, the guarantee of reply is faster and sure. Scientifically it is mentioned that the whole world is covered by ether which is the medium through which  thoughts get connected and responded.

Our subconscious mind is like a Kalpa Vruksha , whatever we desire with that we get . Whatever you conceive and believe in your subconscious mind , you can achieve through positive mental attitude. It is not easy to control the mind , that is why it is compared to monkey. It keeps flying from thought to thought and many a times negative. Mind cannot sit quiet. It keps brooding over subject after subject. Controlling the mind to bring only positive thoughts and cut the negative thoughts the moment it enters the mind without allowing it to further progress in the mind needs constant watch over the mind , i.e thoughts. The way to over come fear and enjoy confident happy life is to consciously always fill mind with thoughts of confidence , courage ,success . Imagine , Visualize positive outcomes in mind , visualize a confident you constantly and eventually you will become a very confident , fearless  ,happy person.

Control your mind and enjoy the freedom is the verdict. We are the free soul with all the powers with in us. Covered by illusion , we are thinking us to be a limited and bonded creature, where as our real avatar is we are the God.  As Shankaracharya says in Nirvana Shatakam , I am not the senses, I am not the relationships, I am not the one made of pancha bhootas( five elements) ,  I am  the eternal bliss , Siva, i.e Almighty. ( Chidananda Roopah Shivoham, shivoham), My real nature is peace, happiness. Where there is peace, there cannot be fear, anger and lust.

Meditation is the answer to control the mind from wavering and keeping constantly on positive thoughts. Yoga is the answer to all our challenges and master key for success and happiness. It keeps both body and mind fit. healthy mind in a healthy Body . Yoga balances everything. Ayurveda mentions about tridoshas  ( vata , Pitta and Kapha ) as reason for any decease. Daily practice of Yogasanas , pranayama is the way to keep mind under control and enjoy the eternal bliss. This is the way to achieve the purpose of life as mentioned in Isha Upanishad that one has to live hundred years performing his earthly duties. When he does that no result of action affects him and he remains blissful and attains Moksha, free from birth and death.
